Meet the Financial Educator: Frank Guida

Here at American Retirement Institute, we like to meet new faces. In our new series “Meet the Financial Educator,” we’d like to introduce you to a few of the financial professionals we partner with. To kick off our series, we’ll be interviewing Frank Guida of A Better Way Financial, located in Allentown, PA.

How long have you worked in the financial services industry?

I’ve been in the financial services industry for 35 years.

What area do you serve?

I serve those nearing or in retirement located in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania

What drew you to working with retirees?

I saw an opportunity to help improve people’s lives by providing them with access to better planning and better financial products.

What would you say is the greatest benefit provided by ARI?

The opportunity to educate people in a relaxed environment. Too many times, I’ve seen people walk into a high-pressure sales environment. The advantage to attending an ARI course is that you receive up-to-date information from experienced financial professionals without having to worry about a sales pitch to purchase a financial product you may or may not need.

How are you taking precautions for your ARI courses in light of COVID-19?

To respect social distancing guidelines and the health of our community, we have been holding our ARI courses online.

What is the biggest reason retirees and pre-retirees should attend your next course?

They will have an opportunity to learn about many different aspects of retirement planning in a non-sales manner.

In your opinion, what is the greatest challenge facing retirees or pre-retirees today?

The government. With tax laws changing at a rapid pace, it’s hard to stay on top of that information amongst a sea of other news stories the average American wants to stay updated on as well. These changes can have wide-reaching ramifications for filing your taxes next year, but can also impact your Social Security income and retirement plan.

How do you continue helping attendees after they’ve attended a course?

Following an ARI course, attendees are invited to join us in-office (virtually or in-person) or in a lab session to help determine if we can help them analyze their current financial picture. From there, we can offer some simple advice, next steps, and even help create a financial plan, if needed.

If you could say one thing to the next generation of retirees, what would it be?

Plan ahead. So many people are heading straight toward retirement without a plan in place that matches up with their goals and needs for life after work. You can start planning by using financial planning software that can help determine if you can meet your goals in retirement.
